The latest book from esteemed British writer Linda Grant caught our eye soon after we read the first few paragraphs of a pre-release galley. Few writers have captured us with their prose as quickly as Grant did. While the book's title might discourage those readers who care little for fashion, it would be an opportunity missed not to have a look and see what Grant can do with words and ideas.
Beginning on page 74, we've excerpted a selection from the first chapter of The Thoughtful Dresser: The Art of Adornment, the Pleasures of Shopping, and Why Clothes Matter. The book debuts April 20, and we hope it gets the attention it clearly deserves.
