The Met Costume Institute Gala

Considered the best social ticket in New York, celebs from the East and West coasts converged for the annual glittering fundraiser on May 3rd. This year, Oprah Winfrey co-chaired the event with Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and the Gap's Patrick Robinson. "I've heard about this (ball) for years," Winfrey said on the red carpet. "This is a dream come true for me." The gala kicked off the Costume Institute exhibit "American Women: Fashioning a National Identity," which runs from Wednesday to August 15 at the Met.
